One of the mysteries of the GOP is it's relationship with so-called values voters. This issue has become especially pertinent considering that several Republican presidential candidates are planing to speak at “Rediscover God in America,” a telecast that will beamed to millions of church goers.

One of the speakers at this event is Newt Gingrich. Yes, that Newt Gingrich, who is married to his third wife, who used to be a staffer. The same Newt who got booted as speaker of the House for failure to impeach President Bill Clinton. While he was trying to impeach Clinton, Gingrich was also getting blow jobs from Callista, now wife no. 3. Apparently, he did this so he would not have to lie about having extra-marital sex. Like Clinton, apparently Newt does not consider oral sex to be sex.

My first thought when I read about this, why do social conservatives keeping buying this crap? You often wonder who is really fooling who here?

Most of the GOP presidential candidates seem to be sophisticated political operators and I doubt if they believe in the Rapture (even though they claim to) or really hate gays. Evidently they must be okay with gay people, because they tolerated former closeted gay man, Ken Mehlman, running the GOP during the Bush years.

The conservative voters who are supposed to suck up this family values crap, are not much better. The Conservative South is known for its frequent divorces and remarriages, high teen pregnancy rate and high STD rate.

The GOP sticks to these wedge issues because it knows that they will always garner the votes of “conservative” working, class people. It seems that while Jim Bob and Darlene, might like universal health care, voting against gay marriage and abortion is more important.

In reality, Americans love their porn, quickie divorces, the right to choose and don’t mind gay people, as long as they stay in the closet. And here are two statistics that indicate how conservative red states really are. According figures from the adult entertainment industry, the state that consumes the most online porn is conservative Utah, second only to Missippi. And the no. 1 day for online porn use? Sunday.

GOP Policies Will Create Feudalistic Society

We are entering the final leg of one of the craziest and most exhausting political seasons in history. This year the GOP has fielded the most extreme and unhinged candidates in recent memory. With her talk of refusing to pay for maternity care, Nevada senate candidate Sharon Angle, who beat out a woman who wanted people to barter chickens for healthcare, was the kookiest candidate on the block, but then along came Minnesota GOP senate candidate Christine O’Donnell, who dabbled in witchcraft, lied about her college education and also fudged her dad’s history as the official Bozo the Clown.

This would all be amusing, but there is something deadly serious about their message. It is clear from some of their statements that the GOP/Tea Bag candidates want a return to a form of government that seems to look at lot like feudalism. And by that, I mean they want a society where the landed gentry controls everything and the peasants eke out a living as dirt farmers.

More evidence of the GOP’s contempt for the poor can be seen in statements from Alaska GOP senate candidate Joe Miller, who recently called the minimum wage unconstitutional. Linda McMahon, a GOP senatorial candidate in Connecticut, has echoed Miller’s ideas. Miller is also against unemployment insurance, even though his wife used it after she quit her job,

Many of these current GOP candidates want to strip the government down to its most limited functions. They claim that federal and state workers control the government through their powerful unions. (God forbid that unions actually lobby for decent wages and benefits.) GOP candidates would do away with unions, worker rights and labor laws, allowing bosses (the landed gentry) to have all the power.

California GOP candidate Meg Whitman, former CEO of Ebay, wants to do away with about 40,000 state jobs in a bid to streamline government and make it more businesslike. But here is the dirty little secret. That work still needs to be done. Someone needs to arrest criminals, process government paperwork, write tickets or do the other mundane government tasks we take for granted.

And this is where the second part of the GOP’s plan to restore feudalism comes into play. Whitman has said that she plans to make government more efficient by turning these government jobs over to private firms. So what will probably happen is that a firm will take over the government contract for a couple of million, and then farm out the work of 10 people to two contractors. If the contract is worth $20,000 the owner will probably keep half, and split the rest among the contractors, who also don’t get benefits and can be fired at will.

However these contracts will probably end up going to companies with ties to the Whitman campaign or even companies that she owns. She is supposed to be a smart business woman, so I doubt if she would spend $140 million of her own money and not expect some kind of return. This kind of situation has happened before, under the George W. Bush administration which mastered the art of crony capitalism. After the Iraq war. massive no-bid contracts were given out to Halliburton, which was formerly run by Vice President Dick Cheney. Halliburton also has contracts to supply and feed troops, jobs that used to be performed by the military at a lower cost.

If the GOP wins, it won’ t just stop at state contracts. Republicans have their eyes on other government services such as Medicare and Social Security. They may claim they want to make these programs more efficient, but its all about money. The plan to privatize Social Security, which Sharon Angle said she was for then against, has been called the next big heist. Wall Street stole trillions of dollars from working Americans through the Great Mortgage Crash, and now it has social security in it sights.

It will be the same scenario if the GOP gains power, they’ll push through legislation authorizing the privatization of Social Security. People will be encouraged to open private accounts, that means trillions of money for Wall Street, and more potential victims.

Wall Street will play on Americans’ greed, just like they did with the Housing Bubble. Sign up for this complicated savings plan, which you don’t understand, and you might get 50 percent more in your retirement account. What they won’t tell you is that you also might lose your shirt, and your broker gets a commission for every customer he steers towards a certain investment fund. (This has happened before.) Also, your broker is going to charge you monthly fees for watching your money. This has been tried before, under the Pinochet dictatorship in Chile and workers found they ended up getting less money because of broker fees. According to a 1995 article in the New York Times by Larry Rohter: “Even many middle-class (Chilean) workers who contributed regularly are finding that their private accounts - burdened with hidden fees that may have soaked up as much as a third of their original investment - are failing to deliver as much in benefits as they would have received if they had stayed in the old system.”

If history repeats itself, Wall Street will create another bubble that will explode, and the federal government will be forced to bail out the banks -- again. This has happened at least twice before, with the Savings and Loans crisis (total cost $124.6 billion according to the Congressional Budget Office), and the recent Toxic Asset Relief Program (TARP) bailout, which bailed out banks drowning in the mortgage crisis to a tune of up to $700 billion.

This form of crony capitalism will create a new generation of robber barons (feudal lords) whose wealth is based on their proximity to the government. If you want to see how this ends, look at Russia which is now controlled by a few oligarchs who became fabulously wealthy after the fall of Communism. During this time, a handful of men became overnight billionaires because they were able to cut shady deals with their political friends.

One of the most controversial oligarchs is Roman Abramovich, a 43-year-old, worth about $11 billion and the 50th richest person in the world. Abramovich made his fortune after he bought Russia’s oil and gas company on the cheap during the post-communist Yeltsin era and resold it for a huge fortune, during the rush to privatization. (There’s that word again.). In Russia he is a controversial figure because he is seen to have defrauded the people, but in Britain he is a somewhat popular figure because of he is the benefactor of Chelsea Football Club.

If GOP politicians get elected they will enact polices that will create hundreds of Abramovichs. You have been warned.

Comments about Unemployed Reveal GOP's Contempt for the Poor

One of the things that has always baffled me about American politics is the blue-collar/middle class Republican. These are people who are a few paychecks away from the breadline, yet the still support GOP policies that lambaste the poor.

This is a classic case of bait and switch, because while the GOP needs the votes of working class Americans (and by that I mean anyone who works for a salary,) it's policies of tax cuts to the mega rich and kissing up to corporations end up hurting Average Joes.

To get working people to support the polices of the upper class, the GOP has a powerful array of weapons in it's arsenal, homophobia, race, religion and when those doesn't work you can always throw in the red scare (communism.) In addition, the GOP now has a whole network, FOX News, and talk radio dedicated to spreading it's propaganda.

But now the country is struggling to get out of the worst Depression since World War II. Millions of Americans are suffering from long-term unemployment. Before if you were laid off it would take three t0 six months to find employment, now we are looking at a year or more. It is not unusual to find Americans who have been out of work for up to two years.

And how does the GOP choose to respond to this economic crisis? By bashing the poor of course. According to GOP propaganda Americans are unemployed, because they're lazy, too choosy or just spoiled. Republicans seem to thinking the whopping amounts of money unemployed people make (about $200 per week) is enough for people to live high on the hog and quit searching for work. The GOP has stonewalled on a bill that would have extended unemployment benefits for millions of Americans. All of a sudden they are concerned about deficits, even though the Republican controlled Congress voted for Bush's wars and tax cuts, which inflated the deficit.

Now let's say an American worker made about $50,000 a year, which is an average mid-level salary, that works out to be about $4,000 per month. An unemployment check of $200 per weeks, works out to about $800 per month, less than a quarter of what that person would be making if they worked.

But GOP firebrands like Nevada senatorial candidate Sharron Angle are convinced that Americans prefer couch surfing, instead of making real money. Angle implies that extending unemployment makes Americans comfortable, in an interview with a Nevada political show she said, "I would have voted no, because the truth about it is that they keep extending these unemployment benefits to the point where people are afraid to go out and get a job because the job doesn't pay as much as the unemployment benefit does. And what we really need to do is put people back to work."

If Angle would actually talk to people on Planet Earth she might realize that finding a job is anything but easy. Statistics show there are about five applicants for every job. And even if workers are willing to drop their pay demands, they face resistance from employers. Age discrimination and degree discrimination are rife. (Many workers over the age of 50 have opted to take early retirement because they know that few employers want to hire an employee who is close to retirement.)

As someone who was unemployed for more than a year, I saw personal evidence of this. I sent out about 5,000 resumes and also applied for entry-level jobs. The problem is department stores at the mall are not going to hire a 40-something professional worker for a minimum-wage job, where his supervisor is going to be half his age.

Plus many of those companies would rather hire wet-behind-the-ear high school or college kids who will be happy to work for next to nothing, and won't have the balls to complain about labour abuse.

For those working class people who still cling to Conservative principles, I ask what more will it take to come to your senses? The GOP despises you. They use wedge issues to garner your votes, but side with corporations who are always looking for the bottom line, even if it means exporting American jobs to China, where they can pay less than a quarter of American wages.

Working class Republicans are like an abused wife who keeps going back to a husband who keeps giving her black eyes. But as Albert Einstein, the definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. The Democrats are not perfect, but at least they seem to be trying to do something about the situation, and they are not openly contemptuous of the poor.

Meet FOX News' latest contributor - Ted Nugent

Sometimes it seems as if FOX News does not even attempt to be a legitimate news organization -- which it isn't. At times they seem to grab anyone off the street to talk about politics. Ray Stevens, author of the of culturally sensitive "Ahab the Arab," was called on "The O'Reilly Factor" to talk about political correctness. And now America's favorite neo-fascist Sean Hannity, has called on barely sane rocker Ted Nugent to bash the Obama administration.

Nugent accuses President Barack Obama of spitting on the flag, the Bill of Rights and the 10 Commandments. Nugent has also advocated executing Obama and Hillary Clinton . By the way wasn't it the Bush adminstration who decided to arrest American citizens and hold them indefinetly without trial?

The only thing he didn't accuse Obama of is raping an apple pie. Nugent's rant is highly ironic since he has multiple marriages behind him, a kid out of wedlock, and also dodged the draft. According to an interview with the British Independent newspaper Nugent literally crapped his pants to get out of going to Vietnam, Nugent's views are so far the right, he would fit perfectly in Nazi Germany. His solution to the Iraq war? "Nagasaki" them! And this is who FOX chooses to give political opinion?

FOX must believe that it's viewers are thick-headed enough to actually believe Nugent's B.S. I am not sure if he does, or if he is following the Glenn Beck method of saying mindless crap to sell books. Sorry Ted, if you ever want to be taken seriously, you're going to have to do better than that. Some of us actually read and check the facts, unlike most FOX News viewers.

Alvin Greene's 'Phantom' Campaign Leaves Many Unanswered Questions

The media loves a good story, even if it's not true. The story of Alvin Greene, the South Carolina phantom, who won the Democratic senatorial primary in South Carolina, is a great media story -- even if there are several holes in the plot.

In case you have not been following this story, Greene, an unemployed former service man who lives with his parents, managed to win the Democratic primary (garnering more than 100,000 votes,) without doing any campaigning, advertising or media. He had zero money to work with, but somehow managed to come up with the $10,000 filing fee.

Greene has no political experience and the only jobs skills he has are from 13 years in the military. He is also facing a felony charge for showing an underage college student pornography.

Some people are billing this as "Mr. Greene goes to Washington," but this story smells worse than three-day old fish. There is no way you can get elected by sitting on your ass and not spending any money. If it was that easy, hundreds of other people would have done it and billionaires like Meg Whitman wouldn't have spend $80 million to win the California gubernatorial primary.

There have been several theories about how Greene pulled this feat off. South Carolina Congressman James Clyburn is calling Greene a plant who is being secretly directed by hidden powers. The motive is to give incumbent, Sen. Jim DeMint, a pushover opponent. Clyburn is calling for an investigation into alleged election fraud. Additionally, the voting machines used in South Carolina are made by Diebold, the same firm that made the voting machines that turned out mysterious results in Ohio in 2004. The Ohio voter scandal resulted in an unresolved lawsuit and Mike Connell, a GOP operative who was scheduled to testify in the case, died in a mysterious plane crash. Diebold machine provide electronic voting, with no verifiable paper trail. The company is owned by a major Republican campaign donor.

Hiring a simple African American as a ringer is not new in South Carolina. According to an article in the Washington Post, Republican operative Rod Shealy was convicted for hiring a black fisherman to run against his sister in her campaign for lieutenant governor. Shealy's goal was to stimulate white voters.

This story has many troubling elements:

• How did an unemployed man come up with $10,000?
• How did Greene win election without campaigning?
• Why did Greene tally more votes than there were voters in certain districts?

And Greene himself is an oddity. He claims to be a college graduate, but can barely string together a coherent sentence. His interviews make Sarah Palin sound like a genius. When asked about his platform, he repeats a series of cliches, like "more jobs" and "better justice,"but offers no concrete solutions or ideas. Some South Carolina politicians have suggested that Greene is a mentally challenged patsy who is being used. Other voters have suggested that Greene won because his name sounded black. His opponent Vic Rawl, a judge and former state legislator, is white.

There are too many unanswered questions here. These are questions which should have been answered by the South Carolina media, who only seemed to start investigating Greene after he won. Unfortunately, this is what happens when the media has been reduced to a shoe-string operation who don't have the time to do investigative stories. The South Carolina Democratic party also has egg on its face for letting things get to this stage. And the GOP, well all we have right now is accusations, although DeMint stands to benefit from running against a straw candidate.

This scandal may blow up in the GOP's face if they are implicated. A Global Grind columunist says that if it turns out that Greene is a Republican plant, many black voters will stick a fork in the GOP and say they are done.

If you ever wondered why a shallow, hypocritical, media-whore like Sarah Palin ever became a national political figure, Bill Maher breaks it down. On Friday's "Real Time," Maher and his panel of guests, which included blogger Andrew Sullivan and director Judd Apatow, discussed the Sarah Palin phenomenon.

Maher says it all boils down to sex appeal. Yeah, Palin is a dim, wingnut who can barely string together an intelligent sentence, but she looks good. Basically, Conservative men still want to have sex with her, and for that they are willing to overlook her flaws. And that makes a lot of sense. If you consider that the Republican party is largely made of old, white men, it explains why they would idolize a pretty woman who speaks their language of God, guns and xenophobia.

Most of the female anchors on Fox News look like they came off a beauty queen assembly line. (Former FOX News commentator Angela McClowan is a former paegent contestant.) They are all pretty, mostly blonde and wear tight, form-fitting clothes. There have been memos showing that the female anchors were told to wear short skirts and show plenty of leg. The web site Right Wing News recently published a list of the top 15 Hottest Conservative Women in the New Media.

Conservatives seem to be under the impression that all left-wing women are hairy, hippies who don't wear deodorant. And because of that they are willing to tolerate the drivel spouted by Neocon bimbos like Sarah Palin and Ann Coulter.

Conservatives think the left hates Sarah Palin because she is attractive and has a big family. But as Jon Stewart said, the left just sees through her BS. They see her for what she is, a mannequin who makes a living parroting right-wing cliches.

Vampire Republican Thinks Obama is A Muslim, Favors Executing Illegals

If you thought the Tea Baggers were crazy, here is a Republican who makes them look sane. Jonathon "The Impaler" Shockey is seeking the Republican presidential nomination in 2012, which is not that strange, apart from the fact that he is a practising vampire.

Shockey is a perennial candidate who has unsuccessfully run for congress in Florida, New Jersey and Florida. Shockey is separated from the mother of his three kids, and has ran afoul of the law for his relations with teenage girls. He likes his "vampire brides" under 19.

Shockey also believes Obama is a Muslim and is in favor of impaling illegal immigrants and criminalizing abortion. The scary thing about Shockey is not that he is a vampire, who actually drinks blood, but how close his views are to mainstream Republicans!

Ron Paul Denies Responsibility for Racist Comments in His Newsletter

Rep. Ron Paul is an oddity. He is a libertarian-leaning Republican, who voted against the Iraq War, opposes the Patriot Act and has called for an auditing of the Federal Reserve. He is also in favor of withdrawing from the United Nations and reducing drug sentencing. And although he won the CPAC poll, he has absolutely no chance of winning the Republican nomination in 2012.

Paul has been dogged by accusations of racist comments he made in his newsletter back in the 1980s and 1990s. (His son, Rand, also discovered he had a white supremacist working on his campaign team.) Some of the comments in Paul's newsletter include advising people to buy guns to protect themselves against blacks, accusing blacks of thinking car jacking is hip and saying that inner city blacks are taught to hate whites.

Paul claims that he was the publisher of the newsletter but did not keep track of who was writing for the publication or what they were writing about it. As a journalist, I have learned that if your name is on top of a publication, you bear responsibility for it. Also, CEOs of corporations are held responsible for the products their companies put out.

His excuses in this CNN interview simply do not add up. You don't get to say, "I didn't know" and walk away. And this wasn't one comment, there were several. It seems obvious that this was a smear campaign designed to upset Paul as he was gaining popularity, but it leaves some nagging doubts about Paul's motivations. But the question is where do we, and Ron Paul, go from here? I think Paul's political future lies with a third party, which would only draw away Republican voters.

GOP Lacking Decent Candidates for 2012

While the mainstream media seems to fueling the story that the Democrats are in trouble, the Republicans are not exactly in great shape either. The recent CPAC poll shows the lack of viable Republican candidates for 2012. Rep. Ron Paul, a fan of the libertarian crowd, was the surprise winner of the poll, but he comes with all kinds of baggage.

Ron Paul, and his family, have been linked to racial scandals on at least three occasions. The latest thing I discovered was a picture of Paul arm-in-arm with Derek Black, a second generation white separatist, who ran for a GOP post in Florida. There is a saying from Ian Fleming's "Goldfinger," "Once is pure chance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action." So according to Paul's track record and the company he keeps, it seems clear where he stands.

The other candidate that conservatives are excited about is former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, the genius behind the Contract on America and impeachment of President Bill Clinton. When the smoke from the impeachment, cleared Gingrich and his replacement Rep. Dan Burton were both out of a job, and Clinton was still in office.

Gingrich, who has formed a PAC, also has a pretty messy personal life. He is currently on his third wife, and was having oral sex with a staffer, while he was trying to get Bill Clinton fired for the same thing. (He did this so he could claim that he was not extra martial intercourse.) Gingrich may believe that he washed away his sins by converting to Catholicism and confessing to Focus on the Family founder James Dobson, but I doubt if the media will be as forgiving.

The best candidate seems to be Mitt Romney, but he failed to capture the nomination last time. And with the Republican party currently being hijacked by the far right, I doubt if Romney or Paul could get elected. There is always the wild card Sarah Palin, but that seems to be more of a media story than anything else. Palin's poll numbers are abysmal, and she is too far right to win over moderate parts of the country.

It also seems that Republicans are beginning to cotton onto the fact that Palin is shallow. Bill O'Reilly recently said she needs to go back to "political college," and Jeb Bush said GOP candidates need to show "more intellectual curiosity." Who do you think he was referring to?

Klansman's Son Demands Seat On GOP Board

I am sure Republicans who accidentally stumble across this blog may think I am deliberately running stories to make them look racially insensitive. All I can say is, I just report the news, I don't create it. Which brings me to this rather shocking story.

Derek Black, the son of a former KKK grand wizard, is suing the Palm Beach County Republican Party for a seat on their Executive Committee. Black won 60 percent of the vote in a primary and is demanding to be seated. The local Republican party, shocked at the election results, apparently barred Black from taking his seat. Local Republican officials claim that Black refused to sign a loyalty oath.

There are so many problems with this story. Firstly, how did a self-avowed white separatist win 60 percent of the vote? And if he won the vote, he should be seated. The problem is the local GOP realize that Black is an embarrassment, but shouldn't someone have vetted him before he ran? I guess Republicans have not learned from the Palin debacle.

Black, who is a wonderkid in white supermacist circles, likes to bill himself as an advocate of "white pride." Like many white supermacists, he is trying to market himself as telegenic, Conservative who wants to show pride in his European heritiage. But look at Black's geneology. His father is a former Klansman and the founder of Stormfront, the granddaddy of online hate sites, and his mother was formerly married to David Duke!

It's disturbing that former and current white supremacists keep popping up in the GOP. Rep. Ron Paul's son Rand, was brushed with scandal after it was revealed that a Senate campaign worker posted racist messages on his MySpace page. Ron Paul (above left) himself has also been dogged by accusations of racially offensive messages in a newsletter he used to run. But judging by the rhetoric that is coming out of the Republican Party, most white supermacists would probably fit right in.

FOX News Compares Scott Brown to Reagan

In his book, "The Truth, With Jokes," Sen. Al Franken talks about how the Bush White House said they were in the reality creation business. By that they mean that their version of reality did not come from history books, or from journalism, which is often the first draft of history. They stated an idea, and then adjusted reality to fit that idea. It sounds pretty crazy, but that is where FOX News comes in. They bombard, the poorly-educated American public with enough propaganda to convince them that the FOX version of reality is true.

It was the same with the Iraq war. In 2002, most Americans, didn't think that Saddam Hussein was a threat, but by the time FOX News and the so-called liberal media had finished, a large percentage of the public believed that Saddam wrote the check for 9-11. (He had absolutely nothing to do with it.)

FOX's latest campaign is to brand Sen. Scott Brown, who has been in the Senate for less than a month, as the next Ronald Reagan. I don't hate Scott Brown, although I don't agree with his politics, but he has hardly done anything, apart from serving in the Massachusetts Senate for nine years and serving in the National Guard. But FOX News is already billing him as the next Great White Hope. The only thing that Reagan and Brown have in common is that they are both good looking. Reagan managed to carry his aw-shucks charisma all the way to the White House.

FOX News Declares War on Columbia Journalism School...?

I guess the people at FOX News must have of lot of free time on their hands since they are avoiding real news stories like torture, the economy and foreign wars. Now the FOX brain trust has declared war on the Columbia School of Journalism, which is regarded as the Harvard of the Journalism business. I am not sure why Columbia has generated such hatred from FOX. Maybe it's because the professors at Columbia know FOX is anything but a news organization, and use FOX as a text-book example of what budding journalists should not do.

FOX is accusing Columbia's J school of being "out of touch" and part of that mythical "liberal elite." This is ironic because FOX's Bill O'Reilly, for all his blue-collar posturing, received a master's degree from Harvard. George W. Bush was a third-generation Ivy league graduate, and it does not get more elite than that.

In response, Nick Lemann, dean of the Journalism school, says FOX's attacks are great advertising. He said that he doubted if FOX President Roger Ailes had the skills to go out and cover a regular story. Judging by the new stories that come out of FOX, I am sure much of the on air- talent doesn't have the same skills either.

FOX is doing this to play to it's audience, which is 95 percent white, and largely rural. To people like that, New York is Sodom and Gomorrah, and not even part of America. After all Sarah Palin said that "real Americans," don't live in places New York.

Post's Broder Says Palin Tea Party Speech Was "Pitch Perfect"

Washington Post columnist David Broder is referred to as the "dean of the Washington Press Corps." Well it might be time for the Dean to retire. His latest column is a fawning a love letter to Sarah Palin and her recent speech at the Tea Party convention.

(I think Broder may have scored some Viagra and is hot for Palin.) One of the problems with the newspaper business if you have fossils like Broder, who have been in place for years, and no one dares to question or even challenge.

Broder said that Palin was "pitch perfect" and hit all the conservative and populist notes. Maybe Broder is getting senile, because most media pundits widely condemned her speech, which was the usually grab bag of GOP talking points, strung together in Palin's grammar-free style of talking.

Also Broder needs to remember that Palin was speaking to a group of assorted nuts who believe that the president was born in Kenya and one of their speakers advocated bringing back racist voting laws. Huffington Post Editor Simon Whatley describes the Tea Baggers as a "national embarrassment.

Broder goes on to say that Palin may pose a challenge to GOP front runner Mitt Romney in 2012. The GOP had better hope that Palin, who prepared for her big speech by writing notes on her hand, doesn't run in 2012, because a recent Washington Post poll said that most Americans think she is not qualified to lead the country.

FOX News Gives Viewers What They Want To Hear-- Even if It's Not True

Some of the best analysis of the United States media, comes from foreign sources, because they are often able to look at American news objectively.

Russia Today is an English language station broadcast out of Russia. They do a lot of news on America politics and the American media. In this interview with writer Michael Wolff, he explains why the American news media is dying.

Wolff says in today's climate, in order for a news organization to thrive, it has to understand its audience, and give them what they want. This is the reason why FOX News has been so successful. They have figured out their demographic -- angry, uneducated, white men -- and tailored their news to them.

So that means lots of anti-Obama and anti-Black stories, lots of leggy, blonde "newsmodels" and lots of stories about the Tea Party, which is largely made up of angry, white people. Who cares if any of the news is accurate or objective? According to Wolff, FOX's main goal is to get ratings, so it can sell products.

He also points out that advertising rates on FOX are lower than CNN's, because the FOX demographic is supposed have less education, and therefore less buying power!

Right-Wing Website Site Posts Offensive Immigrant Song

This headline might be redundant, because if an offensive song turns up online, the chances are that it will be on a right-wing site. Human Events posted a parody of "Felize Navidad" on it's web site, which includes charming lyrics such as "Illegals in my yard, Throw them some pesos and they work so hard." Real funny. A few months ago Bill Maher said that not all Republicans were racists, but if you were a racist, there is a good chance that you are Republican.

I have said this before, but it seems as if the GOP needs to have a come to Jesus meeting about race. The party has a reputation of being a pro-White (and anti non-white), and it is not helping when these offensive incidents keep cropping up. One way to ensure that the GOP stays a minority party is appealing to white people, a shrinking minority in a country where Latinos are the fastest growing ethnic group.

Having a black face as the leader (Michael Steele) is not going to solve the problem.

Andrew Sullivan Joins the Ex-Conservative Bandwagon

For several months I have been saying the Republican party is on its last legs, and the evidence seems to get louder and louder every day. Recently Charles Johnson, founder of the blog, Little Green Footballs, threw in the towel with the right wing. Now Andrew Sullivan (above), a writer with The Atlantic, has joined him. Like Johnson, Sullivan says he has been turned off by the increasingly hysterical tone of the modern-day conservative movement, birthers, Palintologists, homophobia and Glenn Beck.

The GOP seems to be engaged in a civil war, where the moderates are trying to stop the Teabaggers from taking over. The winner of this fight will determine the future of the Republican party, which might be as a minority party.

Palin Fans Can't Recall What She Stands For

I don't know if this is funny or tragic, but here is footage of Palinites (is that what we are calling them?) who are so enamored with the former Alaska governor, that they can't actually remember what she stands for. It is truly frightening to think that people would vote for a candidate and not know their platform, which makes you wonder if Palin's popularity is solely based on her personality? The answer must be yes, because she has few political or economic accomplisments. The misinformation being regurgiated shows that too many people get their information from FOX News, which is like going to a fish market in search of a good steak.

Tea Baggers Are Mad At Someone, But They Are Not Sure Who

More Tea Baggers stormed DC on Friday on the behest of Rep. Michelle Bachmann. Yes, she of the reeducation camps. (Her husband also runs a business where he tries to turns gay people straight.)

The Tea Party movement insists its members are not racists, yet the march was about 90 percent white and they held up photos comparing health reform legislation to the Holocaust. (They even included banners featuring corpes stacked up in a death camp.) Some Tea Baggers had posters depicting Obama in a turban and as a sambo.

Not good. If there is one group of people you don't want to get pissed off its Jewish people, and the Holocaust is a very sore subject for them.
